Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa – Main Applicant (Subclass 491)

Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa is a temporary visa. It is for skilled workers who want to live and work in territory Australia.

With this visa you can

  • stay in Australia for five years from the date we award you the visa
  • live, work and study in an nominated territory of Australia
  • travel to and from Australia the same number of times as you want, while the visa is legitimate
  • give application for permanent residence, if qualified, through the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191) – which starts on 16 November 2022.

Designated regional area

You and all individuals from your family, who are also holders of the visa, will need to live work and study in an nominated territorial region of Australia. Your nomination should not be withdrawn, or you won’t be awarded the visa.

How long you can stay

This is a provisional visa. You can stay in Australia for five years from the date we award your visa.

Include family

You can add members from the family in your application. You can:

  • add them when you present your visa application
  • add a dependent kid after you submit but before we decide on your visa application.

Family members who give application for the visa have to complete our health and character prerequisites.

Family members not going with you to Australia may also have to complete our health and character necessities.

In case your partner or dependent kids are not added in this application, reveal to us the reason why (for instance, they already hold Australian citizenship or are a permanent resident).

Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa Cost

From AUD4, 045 for the main candidate.

There is also a charge for every relative who gives application for the visa with you.

Eligibility

Be nominated or sponsored

You should be either designated by an Australian state or region government office or indicate that you will be sponsored by a qualified family members. See below for more information.

Present an expression of interest (EOI) for the visa to get a guess of your points score.

In case you score enough points, state and region government offices can see your EOI and might designate you for the visa.

In case you show in your EOI that you will be sponsored by a qualified relative the Department may invite you to give application for a visa in a invitation round.

 

Nomination by an Australian state or territory government agency

Sponsorship by an eligible relative

Your sponsor should be:

  • 18 years age or more
  • normally resident in a nominated region of Australia
  • be an Australian resident, an Australian permanent resident, or a qualified New Zealand citizen
  • be your qualified relative or your partner’s qualified relative in case your partner is also giving the application for this visa

A qualified relative can be:

  • a parent
  • a child or step-child
  • a brother, sister, adoptive brother, adoptive sister, step-brother or step-sister
  • an aunt, uncle, adoptive aunt, adoptive uncle, step-aunt or step-uncle
  • a nephew, niece, adoptive nephew, adoptive niece, step-nephew or step-niece
  • a grandparent, or
  • a first cousin

Before you can be get a visa we must approve your sponsorship.

For Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa Be this age

When we invite you to give the application for the visa you should be aged fewer than 45.

In case you turn 45 after we invite you to give an application you can still give an application for the visa.

In case you turn 45 after you present your EOI but before we invite you to give the application you won’t get an invite.

Have a suitable skills assessment

For your application to be legitimate, you have to announce that you have an appropriate skills assessment at the time of invitation.

You will have to give a copy of this skills evaluation with your application.

For medical and lawful specialists, we also accept the following as evidence of a skills assessment:

  • complete or unconditional or common medical enrollment with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • conditional expert enlistment with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. This just permits you to practice in your specialty. You required no more training or oversight
  • admission to practice law in the relevant state or region

Your skills evaluation has to have been acquired in the three years before the date of your invitation. In case evaluation was for a shorter duration, that duration should not have passed.
